Why women love burlesque: 'It is good after divorces, bereavements, operations, depressions'

Jenny in art Chanel is a burlesque teacher. We hear about it frequently, especially in recent years and there are more and more women who want to learn this kind of show born as "burlesque" (it originates in 18th century England with subsequent transformations) which includes, in addition to caricatures and satires, also female ballets and striptease. We ask you the reason for this trend.

We ask you the reason for this trend.

Who is Chanel?

I am a choreographer. I was born from modern and classical dance, but I also touched the acrobatic rock, cha cha cha, boogie-woogie and ballroom dancing. My father made me become a "sportswoman" between tennis and artistic gymnastics and this greatly increased in me the sense of discipline and the importance of the objectives to be achieved. But with great respect for yourself and others. Always thanks to my family, I was able to go to the theatre a lot. I have seen numerous shows. I have seen so much cinema, and so much good and an old television. I was especially passionate about American musical films, so I was born from this mix of dance, theatre, cinema, variety and sport and a lot of love for books and culture in general. I have always wanted to transmit my unconditional love for stage art and so I started teaching dance and theatre very early. I have been teaching for 25 years and I am also involved in social theatre. "

Burlesque is passion, desire, rebirth, loving and loving each other. It has exactly the contents of a social theatre, with a different shell. I started teaching it six years ago. Combining all my past, from dance to theatre, to the pleasure of elegance ... My mom passed on the pleasure of "dressing" and thanks to her, I entered several showrooms. There I started to put on and take off. And now, parallel to the courses, I hold workshops called "Secrets", where we talk about knowing how to dress, wearing a dress, what to choose, from underwear to accessories, to sweaters. This is also Burlesque. Of course, feather boas, satin gloves, corsets ... everything we are used to seeing in a burlesque show!

And that's all I bring from my knowledge of dance, musicals, audiences ... The most playful, burlesque, ironic, but also winking, mischievous, fascinating part. But Burlesque is much more! It can revive. In a certain sense, at the beginning of the course, you reset yourself ... to begin to rediscover yourself. Femininity has it all women. Is that it is often misused. Or you are ashamed to show it. Or you go the other way around. Femininity should be worn with your own style. This is what women from Burlesque look for. Love your image more. Mirror yourself and like yourself. Because they rediscover a truer smile, a more relaxed face, a garment worn with style, a less heavy walk.

How does burlesque change these women?

The woman who takes a course has more knowledge of herself, dares more, plays more. And will respects herself more. With a smile on my lips, I say that if burlesque, is the art of loving himself. If it would be taught in schools, women would all be splendid ... less acidic, less sad, and less eager to approach the wrong men. Because first of all they would love themselves.
